Posted on by Peter

Careful…..don’t be fooled into thinking that nothing can go wrong once you’ve reached the mailing stage.

You still have a lot at stake at this point so when selecting your mailing house, its important to have your mailing managed by experienced people who can provide you with useful advice on production specifics, data cleansing and how you can save money on your postage.

To avoid any nasty last minute surprises, it’s important to get upfront advice on production specifics like paper stocks and finishing requirements to artwork specification and final production.

We always ensure that all formatting and layouts of our client’s  mail meet the strict guidelines laid down by Royal Mail and Downstream Access Providers. It’s all gone Super Solar at VDP!

Posted on by Peter

Now that Summer is here (yes really!) our decision last year to install 200 solar panels has already started to pay dividends – as on sunny days, we are now completely self sufficient with a zero carbon footprint!

As a mailing house, we use a wide range of advanced printing and handling equipment which by their very nature consume large amounts of electricity, so using a renewable energy source such as solar power has already made a significant reduction in our electricity consumption from the national grid.

Last year we made the decision to invest £60,000 and fit 200 photovoltaic (solar) panels to the roof of our large 12,500 square foot warehouse in Aldershot.

Recycling and sustainability are important issues facing all businesses, especially in the print and mailing business. Since founding the company in 2006, we have been committed to the best environmental practices throughout our operations.

We already recycle all paper, cardboard and electrical equipment so our next objective was to find a way of reducing the environmental impact of our in-house mail production equipment.

The solar power system we have installed is capable of producing 43,000 kw hours per annum which will reduce our annual energy consumption by a staggering 30%

Not only are we reducing our carbon footprint, but we are also sending out a powerful message to our customers, by promoting renewable energy generation as well as other important energy efficiency measures.

We already comply with the standards for sustainable mail by adopting the very best data techniques to avoid waste from poorly targeted mail and we use sustainable materials, processes and suppliers to improve the overall environmental performance of our mailings.

Our new solar power system supported by these other important initiatives strengthen our long-term commitment to green credentials and ensure that our mailings are produced in a responsible manner – and hopefully make our competitors green with envy!

The now-privatised Royal Mail said it had “thought carefully” about the impact on customers and its business before increasing their prices just above the inflation rate on 31 March.

Royal Mail said it prices still remained amongst the best value for money in Europe, as well as the company having the highest service specification of any major European country.

But Royal Mail didn’t just increase their prices – they took this opportunity to change the specification of many of their business mail services.

So how do you know if you’re  getting the best postage prices and service levels for your mail?
